melody

the melody was really hard to find in this but i eventually heard it. i really liked your sweep at 1:10 and the bass after that was cool, sounded like a low pass. i like how it wasnt in your face. the break beat around 2:10 was a little weird but it ended up being cool. i dont know if i was a big fan of how it changed key in the end... perhaps it didnt idk :) in any case good work, the mixing was pretty good also the lead synth was a little too loud for me but the drums were right on

RenoakRhythm responds:

awesome... thanks for the review. Ya there are some things i'd like to iron out on this. I made it real quick. The melody was supposed to go from unresolved to resolved to unresolved again.. but i'm not sure if that was a good idea. I really liked the breakbeat though, my favorite thing i added...lol

I really apprecaite the review... good to have honest critique.

mixing

well everyone can tell this was done very well, but i want to comment on the mixing. i want to congratulate you on mixing the vocal track levels correctly, that is something i have alot of problems with, the level was appropriate and didnt distract the listener from the song and there wasnt any frequency interference

kaos855 responds:

Thx For The Comment

yeah chris!

the drop at :14 knocked my sock off....at that point when you hear that it locks you in to where you are in the song. once again you are the reverb master, i have never heard anyone handle reverb like you know how to.

YES YES YES YES YES GOA GO!

ohm guh

i love goa bass, and this bass line delivers! there are several lovely sounds in this song, i loved your HH's and the high fi FM squeels were awesome.

would have liked to have heard more variety though

low pass

nice low pass on the lead leading up to the build, that was quite effective, you might want to make your kick a little lower i know usually kicks in trance are higher but yours is just a tiny bit too high. my favorite part is the second lead melody that comes in around 1:00 that went well with the rhythm. keep working on it it has promise to be awesome

connection

at :33 i liked how you didnt blast that synth that came in, nice ove but i would have liked the bass to come in stronger at :55, try switching the melody up, it sounds common, but it has promise to be interesting, your synthesis at the end was good, everything connected well

it was not unpleasent

well i will tell you one thing, dont ever worry about what people think of the intro, the intro sets the mood, so good job with that. your drums could have used a litle more reverb and i think you would have achieved the exact emotion you were going for, your lead that comes in around 50 needs to be a little softer and not so abrupt when it is introduced, it needs to sound more like a pad. a pad can be a gentle synth sound used for filling up the background so it makes the song sound more full and thy can create atmosphere

i actually really liked the piano part you made for this, thats good stuff, and the bass at the beginning was actually pretty cool.

keep working, you have a great start!

pyrobunny9 responds:

Ok, I'll try to work on those drums for my next song. Like I said i'm still new.

Yeah, I sorta regret adding that little thing around 50. It's really out of place. Unfortunately I can't change it because I was uing the FL demo and I lost the file for it :l

Thankyou very much for an in depth review. I appreciate it.

clarity

actually i like the amount of bass in the song, i dont agree that there needs to be more, i think it would ruin the atmosphere of the song. the kick alone is good.

um good melody work, i really liked your flutes as well, i wasnt a huge fan of the the phasey thing around 2:40 starting in

this was a good song all in all ill give it 4 :) its actually very relaxing

Perfect space at

first off the metal clink percussions in this are terrific , and the lead that comes in at 2:30 is just in the perfect space for its range, nice choice. i liked the reverse snare at 3:30, i wasnt a big fan of the tone you had on the drums at 4:00, but they blended in just fine, they made the transitions into the other drum set less noticeable

DukeLukeProd responds:

Yeah I know what you mean, the snare drums at 4:00 are more commonly used in military marches than in dance music :D I'm glad you like the clink percs.
Thanks for the input man
