it was not unpleasent

well i will tell you one thing, dont ever worry about what people think of the intro, the intro sets the mood, so good job with that. your drums could have used a litle more reverb and i think you would have achieved the exact emotion you were going for, your lead that comes in around 50 needs to be a little softer and not so abrupt when it is introduced, it needs to sound more like a pad. a pad can be a gentle synth sound used for filling up the background so it makes the song sound more full and thy can create atmosphere

i actually really liked the piano part you made for this, thats good stuff, and the bass at the beginning was actually pretty cool.

keep working, you have a great start!

pyrobunny9 responds:

Ok, I'll try to work on those drums for my next song. Like I said i'm still new.

Yeah, I sorta regret adding that little thing around 50. It's really out of place. Unfortunately I can't change it because I was uing the FL demo and I lost the file for it :l

Thankyou very much for an in depth review. I appreciate it.

Perfect space at

first off the metal clink percussions in this are terrific , and the lead that comes in at 2:30 is just in the perfect space for its range, nice choice. i liked the reverse snare at 3:30, i wasnt a big fan of the tone you had on the drums at 4:00, but they blended in just fine, they made the transitions into the other drum set less noticeable

DukeLukeProd responds:

Yeah I know what you mean, the snare drums at 4:00 are more commonly used in military marches than in dance music :D I'm glad you like the clink percs.
Thanks for the input man

so pretty

wow this sounds so smooth, that last guy who review you was a total ass, i love this, i want to go out on a limb and ask if this was made in reason?

anyway all the levels sound so good, its as though all your frequencies fit perfectly in their slots. this is the first song i have given a 5 to in a long time, i literally respect the composition you have shown. besides just sounding good, it actually sounds ,mixing wise, correctly done.

great work

DukeLukeProd responds:

Thanks for the encouraging review :)
It was made in Cubase with "VemberAudio Surge" as my main synth.

I'm usually going for sounds that don't need too much tweaking with an EQ (apart from Hi/lo cut), still there's still a long road ahead of me mixing-skill-wise ;)
cheers

cool chops

i really loved the choppy lead, and the drums were really separate and distinct, great sound.

the compression payed off

xdudex08 responds:

Thanks for the score. I usually try to make the different layers distinct, that way the whole song doesn't sound sound like a smash of different noises.

haha, the portamento!

the portamento on that slinky synth at :36 made me laugh, this was a pretty goofy song, the bass line was funky as well. the levels could use some work but i like the imagery of this song and that is a must.

good work :}

cakeofbeef responds:

A majority of my songs have the "goofy" feel apparently....But anyway, I'm still trying to figure out how all this stuff works, so hopefully my future entries will be better.
Thanks for the review!

drums

the atmosphere with the drums was very laid back, it really contributed to the atmosphere, for the most part the levels were good, the lead really blended with the other parts, i didnt like the the little part you added toward the end, it was really fast and squirmy and didnt mesh completely with the atmosphere of the rest of the song but there wasnt much i didnt like about this song.

good work

Mr-Devil responds:

Well I tried to alter something just before the end so it wouldn't stay all the same. Anyways, I'm glad you liked the song! Thank you for the review.

quirky fun

this sounds really nice, i liked the simplicity of it and it conveyed a energetic atmosphere, your levels were good, everything seemed appropriate, nothing too loud.

JackLiddle responds:

Oh yey, thank you!!! ^^

Didn't think I'd get any GOOD reviews... :P

omg grainy bass

wow the bass on this song was grainy, the drop around 1:05 was pretty cool, good job on the length it was just compact enough and made a good loop, i didnt even realize it was over when it was, very seamless.

good work

axeFX responds:

grAiny

piano

you know, you said you dont remember anything about piano but i think you are wrong, your composition has always reminded me a little of the way you play parts on a piano

axeFX responds:

Well if you say so :P

full version

i would love to hear a full version of this, i think it has promise but my favorite part about it is the portamento on the lead, gives it a slinky feel

Neon-Crepth responds:

thanks for the input! that was what i thought was most successful, it sounds really boring without it.
